Midsummer in Romania

Midsummer in Romania

I bought maaany, many yellow flowers, not to make a flower crown but to decorate my home. I like flowers very much but I chose yellow ones especially for these days.

This night is Sânziene night and the yellow flowers are a symblol for these so-called fairies that bring harvest to the fields. There are many superstitions surrounding this holiday and one of them it’s related exactly to these yellow flowers that people use to gather from the fields and decorate their homes with them so they’ll attract good luck.

Did you know that in the popular belief is is said that flowers have a stronger scent when the fairies, Sânzienele, are around?

It’s the middle of the summer, as this holiday wants to mark, so I wish you a wonderful season!

Love, Andreea
