3 Things You Don’t Usually Do In Your Own Town (but you do it everywhere else)

Constanta, town, travel, sea side, romania

There are a few things we usually skip on doing on our hometown but do it everywhere else. I’ve been living in Constanta for almost twenty years and I keep visiting it pretty often nowadays but still, I was doing my “back-home-routine” that is: see my family, see my friends, drink some coffee and that was kinda it. This summer I didn’t even go to the beach (well… maybe most of the people living on the seaside don’t).

One weekend, I’ve decided to actually visit a little the city and, since you get to know a culture is through three things: history, art and food, I tried the first two + some tourist habit.

I’ve started with the History Museum. I know, we don’t really go there, isn’t it? I was actually really curious what I’ll find inside and make an idea of what an actual tourist may get from here. I must say from the start that they don’t have a guide and the references in English (or any other language whatsoever) are really poor. You can find, though, beautiful archaeological objects that were found on this territory displayed on two floors. The last floor is dedicated to the communist era. Since it’s not too well documented, it is not enough for tourists to just visit this but it is a starting point.

The Folk Art Museum was next on the list and it surprised me in a very good way. This museum speaks very well about our culture and foreign tourists can get an accurate idea from here. Although a small museum, they have an impressive collection of national costumes. A definite must see if you’re here. Love!

Love!

And speaking of the third tourist habit was to make tourist photos around the city. I realized that most of my pictures were with my friends but not this I-was-here kind of a photo. Well, I was here this time and had the time of my life and hope you get inspired to for visiting your own city as a tourist.

Love, Andreea
