This castle is on my list for a while and I finally get to see it. Yay! I am touring Romania since I was a child but, maaaan, there are so many things to see!
The way the Hunedoara city developed in that area, doesn’t prepare you for the existence of a castle. I felt like in the industrial area but there was the sign: “Corvin Castle”.

Castelul ăsta este de ceva vreme pe lista mea și iată că a venit vremea să îl vizitez. Yay! Vizitez România de mică și încă mai am atât de multe de văzut!
Felul în care s-a dezvoltat Hunedoara în zona aia nu te pregătește pentru un castel. Seamănă mai mult cu o zonă industrială dar iată semnul: “castelul Corvinilor”.
Corvin Castle is a charming gothic castle from the XVth century. It has a rich history and has developed for three hundred years. Amazing, right? You can find priceless information on the placards. One mistake we did was not to ask for the audio-video guide at the entrance (actually it wasn’t offered to us and we didn’t know we had that option) so we remained with what we could read on the placards. But there is still a lot of info there.

Castelul Corvinilor este un minunat castel gotic de secol XV. Are o istorie bogată și s-a dezvoltat pe parcursul a trei sute de ani. Surprinzator, nu? Găsești informații neprețuite pe pancarte. Noi am făcut greșeala să nu întrebăm de ghidul audio (de fapt nu ni s-a oferit și nici n-am știut că avem opțiunea asta) așa că am rămas cu ce am citit pe pancarte. Dar tot a fost ceva informație.
I was pleasantly surprised that they have all sorts of experiences during the tour. The first surprise was when we entered one room and there was a man playing medieval music at the guitar. I don’t know exactly if they are paid or they live for the tips but they gave me a nice feeling! It’s the first time I find something like this in a museum. We found three different room with people playing music. Actually, in one room (because it was just me and my two companion ladies) the man was playing on the hammered dulcimer (I had to google on this and I hope this is the one) played a song during our full visit of that room. When we finished, he finished the song. Such an amazing experience!

Am fost plăcut suprinsă că au tot felul de experiențe pe parcursul turului. Prima surpriză a venit când am intrat într-o încăpere și am găsit un barbat care cânta muzică medievală la chitară. Nu știu exact dacă sunt plătiți sau trăiesc din bacșișuri dar mi-au dat un sentiment foarte mișto. Este prima dată când găsesc ceva de genul ăsta într-un muzeu. Am găsit trei camere cu oameni cântând înăuntru. Ba chiar, în una din camere (pentru că eram doar eu și companioanele mele) bărbatul care cânta la țambal a interpretat un cântec pe toată durata vizitei noastre. Când am terminat de vizitat camera, a terminat și cântecul. O experiență minunată!
Another hint I have for you is to try (gently) to open the closed doors. I know, it’s a strange hint but those rooms can be visited. We almost skipped a room but there was a place we could visit and, actually, the supervisor gave us another information about that room, the castle and the life in that era.
Interesting fact: The movie “The Nun” was filmed here (maybe not the whole movie). I haven’t seen it but if you did, now you know.

Alt pont pe care vreau să vi-l dau este să încercați să deschideți (delicat) ușile. Știu, este un pont ciudat, dar noi era să ratăm o cameră care se vizita de fapt și, chiar, supraveghetorul ne-a vorbit despre ea, despre castel, despre viața din acea perioadă.
O chestie interesantă: filmul “Calugărița” a fost filmat aici (poate nu integral). Eu nu l-am văzut dar dacă voi l-ați văzut, acum știți și unde s-a făcut.
I don’t want to bore you. In short, we took this tour very easy. We stayed on the bench in the sun, we visited every area of the castle, relaxed, talked and took photos. The whole tour lasted for a couple of hours. I guess with the audio guide it would’ve been longer. Maybe next time, because this is one of the places I’d like to revisit.

Nu vreau să vă plictisesc. Mai pe scurt, am luat-o domol în turul ăsta. Am stat pe bancă la soare, am vizitat fiecare latură a castelului, ne-am relaxat, am vorbit și am făcut poze. Totul a durat cam două ore. Dacă luam ghidul audio cred că ne-ar fi luat mai mult. Poate data viitoare, căci ăsta este unul din locurile pe care mi-ar plăcea să le revizitez.
