Oh, honeyz! Is love month again. Valentine’s Day just passed by and now Dragobete has something to say too. I don’t want to be boring AF and repeat what I’ve just told you in the last years. Haha! I’ve talked about what is Dragobete in Romanian culture, what I’d like to do in Romania in the love month, how to celebrate Dragobete in Bucharest aaaaaand finally, last year I felt the need to talk about love in the era of the internet.
Daium! I still believe what I’ve said and, still, when this holiday comes, I’m still thinking about this love thing. Dragobete is a kind of Cupid although it’s a completely different story. Dragobete is considered to be the guardian of love. He brings the spring and… love. If you kiss someone on Dragobete day you can say he’s/she’s your “fiance” for the next year. Let’s say that nowadays it was a thing to participate at Dragobete ceremonies.

Oh, honeyz! Este iar luna iubirii. Doar ce a trecut Valentine’s Day că vine și Dragobetele. Nu vreau să fiu de-a dreptul plictisitoare așa că nu o să repet ce am mai spus în anii trecuți. Haha! Am vorbit despre ce este Dragobetele în cultura românească, cum mi-ar plăcea să sărbătoresc Dragobetele în România, ce poți face în București de Dragobete șiiiiiii, în sfârșit, anul trecut am vorbit despre ce mai înseamnă iubirea în era internetului.
La naiba! Încă mai cred ce am scris și, totuși, când se apropie sărbătoarea asta încep să mă gândesc din nou la iubire. Dragobete este un fel de Cupidon deși povestea este complet diferită. Dragobete este considerat protectorul iubirii. Aduce primăvara și… iubirea. Dacă săruți pe cineva de Dragobete poți spune că este “logodnicul/logodnica” tău/ta pentru tot anul. Să spunem că pe vremuri era o treabă să mergi la ceremoniile de Dragobete.
Now, it’s a totally different thing. Now, everywhere we look, we’re bombed with answers even before we got to ask the question. “Love is where you are”; “Love is two minds with one thought”; “Love is this and love is that”; “Roma = Amor”. (I was funny to find that in the shop window). As funny or romantic they may sound, I believe everyone need to search for their unique answers. It is not a recipe and it is not the same thing for everyone. For some “Are you hungry?” = “I love you!”.
And I don’t want to give you an answer either. I just want to suggest you consider some things when you’re looking for love. First, there is self-love, love for your parents, love for your sibling, love for your partner and even love for your pets. Then, there is also the philosophical/metaphorical love: love for life, love for spring, love for wind etc. There are many types of love and many types of feeling it and many types of expressing it. Yeah, many times we don’t express the way we fell and vice versa.

Acum, este ceva complet diferit. Acum, oriunde ne uităm, suntem bombardați de răspunsuri chiar înainte de a pune întrebarea. “Iubirea este acolo unde ești”; “Iubirea înseamnă două minți într-un singur gând”; “Iubirea este asta și pe dincolo”; “Roma=Amor” (m-am amuzat să găsesc asta în vitrină). Oricât de amuzant sau de romantic ar suna, consider că fiecare are nevoie să își găsească propriile răspunsuri. Nu este nici o rețetă și nu este același lucru pentru toată lumea. Pentru unii “Ți-e foame?” = “Te iubesc”.
Și nici eu nu vreau să vă dau un raspuns. Vreau doar să sugerez câteva chestiuni de luat în calcul când căutați iubirea. În primul rând, este iubire de sine, iubire de părinți, de frați, de partener și chiar de animalele de comapnie. Apoi, este iubirea mai filosofică/metaforică: iubirea pentru viață, iubirea pentru primăvară, iubirea pentru vânt etc. Sunt multe tipuri de iubire, multe feluri de a simți și multe de a le exprima. Mda, de multe ori nu exprimam ce simțim și viceversa.
I’m still working on self-love and expressing my feelings, no matter who they are. Along the years I thought I loved a few times and it was probably it then. It’s somehow funny because everything has changed and I gave “love” deeper meanings.

Încă lucrez la iubirea de since și la a-mi exprima sentimentele, oricare ar fi ele. De-a lungul timpului am crezut că am iubit și probabil asta a și fost atunci. Este cumva amuzant cum s-au schimbat lucrurile (percepția) și am dat o însemnatate mult mai profundă “iubirii”.
Vă doresc să găsiți iubirea pe care o căutați și să o sărbătoriți ori de câte ori o simțiți. Happy Dragobete Day!
